The most annoying thing is the textile. Its way too soft and not at all windproof. Just a simple cotton twill... If you carefully look you may find that all 'creases' are soft and 'flowing' instead of keeping stiff as in windproof material.
I purchased a repro Windjacke from Spearhead this past summer. They have changed the fabric to the same one they use on their repro anoraks. A positive change fron the old fabric. It is certainly more windproof since it appears to be made from a harder cotton twill rather than just a soft cotton.

The cuffs still only have one button instead of two but that can be corrected without too much effort.

Guten Tag,

I finally had a chance to wear the second generation Windjacke from Spearhead. It is a certain improvement over the first model. I wore it on a winter hike last week. It was a cloudy day in the woods with temps around the freezing mark and light West/South-West winds. The fabric is much more wind-proof than the first model. It is certainly not as good as Goretex but it does okay.

Is the Windjacke sold by Zenker Militaria one of Hiki Shop's products? http://hikishop.net/wwii-german-gebirgs ... p-343.html

Has anyone purchased HIKISHOP's anorak or windjacke? I know for certain their GJ caps are piss-poor, but the anorak / windjacke don't look half bad. He just released some top of the line looking tunics, and whilst browsing I went back to their GJ section and was peeking at these again. If you've purchased one, chime in with the quality!

Danke!

What was the diameter of these paper buttons ? for a Gebirgsjäger anorak 14, 15, 16 or 17 mm ?

The one that militaria-net sells is the same as the Gavin Militaria one. I own that anorak, and the color is like a baby poop yellowish brown, the front pockets are not separated with stitching (one big gaping pocket) and the "roller buckles" on the sleeves are poor.. I've spent some time "tea-staining" mine to get it to be a proper color, and also mucking it up, but it definitely was not worth the $100 I spent on it.

At least the color on militaria-net is more true to form than this blatant lie on Gavin's site:

Not a HORRIBLE reproduction.. just not good.

Cheers.

ok, thanks for input.

I have a green/gray one from militaria.net. Front pockets on that one is separated with stitching. Spent £69 on that one. Its not much field tested yet though, so i have to get back on that.

Another good supplier of windjacke/windbluse. A bit pricey, but as with most of their items, some top quality reproductions.

The top pots Windjacke cut looks nice , but why is it not Green ? Why does nobody want to make these things in their original colour ? Even the pictures Zenker put out now of their Windjacke seems to be more beige . I know these things fade , but every single original I've seen is a green / olive drab colour . and every literary reference I've read states the same .

Yeah they never seem to hit the colors right, I have an original of both - if only they made 'em like this:

Thanks Goethe , fantastic Windjacke and anorak  I have an old repro anorak exactly like that , so what's the problem with the Windjackes ? By the way , any chance of getting a pattern copied from that one ? I have someone who will reproduce them exactly ( colour and all ) , just need the pattern :?
