When you look at the total defeat and reflect on what you have done perhaps getting it over with was on his mind - he may have thought that even if he ran the chances of his getting away would have been against him.

Bear in mind too that the Movie is filmed from a screenplay based on the book
In 1983 Thomas Keneally was hired to adapt his book, and he turned in a 220-page script. Keneally focused on Schindler's numerous relationships, and admitted he did not compress the story enough. Spielberg hired Kurt Luedtke, who adapted the screenplay of Out of Africa, to write the next draft. Luedtke gave up almost four years later, as he found Schindler's change of heart too unbelievable. During his time as director, Scorsese hired Steve Zaillian to write the script. When he was handed back the project, Spielberg found Zaillian's 115-page draft too short, and asked him to extend it to 195 pages. Spielberg wanted to focus on the Jews in the story. He extended the ghetto liquidation sequence, as he "felt very strongly that the sequence had to be almost unwatchable."
and just for those fans of "Untergang"
Swiss actor Bruno Ganz was sought to play the role of Oskar Schindler, but turned it down.

I felt the corruption and theft which was engaged in by the SS was well dealt with , along with how Poland had been reduced to a barter economy , also how Jewish community leaders were lumbered with the organisation of what the SS had decreeded had to be.

Kritzinger: That is not - no, that is contrary to what the Chancellery has been told. I have directly been assured - I have - that - purge the Jews, yes, but to annihilate them - that we have undertaken to systematically annihilate all the Jews of Europe - that possibility has personally been denied, to me, by the Führer!

Heydrich: And it will continue to be.

Another fallacy - that no order existed one which Longerrich explores fully in his book.
Irving and Co would have us believe that this is a unique position and that the lack of a written order is somehow telling or significant.
(Historians refer to this as being an (arguementum ex.silentio ).
The actual significance has more to do with how Hitler ran his office , how he conducted government , how he made decisions and the chaotic nature of policy making and its implementation which is why I have said to JB that there are a number of parallels which have to be explored apart from the actual subject of the Holocaust itself.

JB who is running the course you mentioned ?

I think it was a Open University course, it was a short course like 2 weeks full time or something.
I will find out and let you know! As it would be worth while looking into it.

Longerich's book "The Unwritten Order" - it is based on his research as an expert witness for defendants in David Irving's libel fiasco.
Two weeks at OU standard would be quite an intense piece of study.

Found this - contents of this I have covered myself it is well structured to explain what took place , how it was brought to fruition and what government agencies and personalities were responsible for driving it forward. making the will of the Fuhrer ( which was judged to be above all law) an active process "working towards the Fuhrer" is how Ian Kershaw explained it.

Quite a reading list.
