BIWAK IM WINTER. Lehr Film Nr.430

Post by Maleme »

Berg Heil!

An interesting film this one as I have been after some information for a while regarding snowholes and shelters used by German Mountain Troops in Winter Conditions.....

The interesting thing is that the techniques shown are still the standard Military and Civilian ones used in Winter Training today. Having stayed in snowholes they are surprisingly comfortable if done properly!

With best wishes, Paul.

Servus Paul,

Thanks for posting this link. It is a great training film. May have to try to make some this winter. We just got 2 feet of snow this weekend!

Patrick,

well it was thanks to you that I found that film! It was on the listing further on from the film you posted on roping techniques!

We have also had tons of snow in the UK....but not here in London!!! I am hopefully off to Scotland in February for some Winter Training and hope to do some overnight snowholing! Will post pics if it comes off!!

Have a great Christmas Patrick and all the very best for The New Year!!!

with very best wishes, Paul.

Nice film...

We have some tonns of snow around (its snowing again now) and (minus) 20 degrees Celsius to top it off... just usual for this time of the year

Indeed, it`s a great trainingsfilm. Here in Norway is it now -15 degrees, and it`s a good time for testing wintercloth and equipment.

Glenn: Thank you for you answer.
For me is Gebirgsjaegerreenactment not ordinary reeanactment, but "living history", because I was born in Bavaria (Kaufbeuren Allgaeu near bavarian Kingscastle Neuschwanstein) and my grandfather was Gebirgsjaeger from the 1. Gebirgsdivision (7. Kompanie Gebirgsjaeger-Artillerie-Regiment 79 and 4.Kompanie-Gebirgsjaeger-Ersatzbattalion 98-Garmisch Partenkirchen and Jagdkommando 7 and many others) under WW2. Thats the best motivation for me. And during my childness I have done much mountain walking, skiing and little climbing. Sorry, my english is not so godt.
That`s the reason for I do not write so much here. English is difficult for me.

Arnulf,

the pictures are fantastic!....Thanks for posting them. The motivation for your "Living History" that comes from your Grandfather...what more could you ask for!!! It would be great to see some photographs of him!

With very best wishes for Christmas and the New Year!

Servus Paul.
thank you. Yes it would be great to see fotos of him, but I do not have some. I have only copies of the Wehrstammbuch and other dokuments, at all 80 pages from WAST, Berlin.

I wish you also
