Servus Ropes,

You need to get a copy of the German magazine WAFFEN REVUE Nr. 42. It has info on both the standard le.IG 18 and the le.Geb.IG 18 with shop drawings of the split trail, wagon wheel, shield, and special snow runners. I'll scan some images for you.

That's a nice and pricey model...and only 1/6th scale, not 1:1 scale.

I know and it has not got the Mountain Trails But perhaps this man has plans - or at least can make photos of one for our freunde Ropes.....
It would seem Dragon makes the model - And scaling something up x6 is more accurate than scaling something up x35.

Dear HG, if you take closer look you would notice that its not just scaled down. Its a model, with all usual compromises to sizes, details etc. Not of value to serious project like that of Mr. Ropes.

You mean youve been trying paul . Haha only joking thanks for the link. The oldman did mention trying too get a decent scale model for some insparation. Looks like were guna be doing it as a blankfire piece. Thankyou herbergfuhrer for those scans there going too be invaluable. Quick question. How common was the GJ18 amoung moutaintroops? Wed like too do the GJ18 but if it wasnt that common or indeed a rarity the perhaps the standard 18 would be a more sensible option.

Servus Ropes,
I have to books about Gebirgsartillerie in my collection.
1.Gebirgsartillerie auf allen Kriegsschauplaetzen from Roland Kaltenegger.
2. Gebirgsartillerie, Geschichte, Waffen, organisation from Franz Kosar.
These books have much information about history and details of the Gebirgsgeschuetze, but the books german language. My granddad he was an Gebirgsartillerist ( Gebirgsartillerie Regiment 79)in the Poland Campain.

Reegards from the Interessengemeinschaft 1.Gebirgsdivision.

Grüß Di' Ropes,

Did a little deeper research...the le.Geb.IG 18 was not part of the Gebirgsartillerie Regiments within a Gebirgsdivision, but were found in the Gebirgsjäger Regiments...usually with the 4th and 5th companies as the Infantry Support Platoon with 2 guns each....also used within the Reconnaissance Battalions with the 2 Bicycle Squadrons and the (mot) Reconnaissance Squadron's Support Platoon also with 2 guns each.

How much would it cost to have another copy of the gun made and shipped to the USA??? Not that I could afford it. :D

Hard too say mate. The real issue is shipping it into the US. I know there are serious restrictions with certain items. Allthough its technically single shot it shouldnt be restricted but im not sure if there would be an issue because its large caliber. If your serious I might be able to get you a price by the end of next week.
