Alf Webb, died 06/02/2011. Ex Long Range Desert Group (if you all remember the classic photo of David Sterling and the vehicles behind him, Alf was about from memory the third chap back) in North Africa, then served in Yugoslavia where he obtained some life changing injuries. Alf went on to work in telecommunications and went back to Africa where his skills were put to use and his easy going and friendly manner allowed access to isolated tribes, Alf was one of the first people to live with the Hadza tribe, long before Ray Mears :-).
Archaeology featured heavily in Alf's latter years, were the pinacle was being asked to develop and produce a safety mechanism for the loaded crossbows of the Terracotta Army.
Alf led a full and positive life, even though troubled greatly by his wartime injuries he made the best of every day, a lesson we could all learn from I'm sure.

Rest In Peace Alf, it was a pleasure to have known you.
