AFRA members now attend more Living History events than any other organisation in the UK. With 92 valid events booked on the calendar for 2010 we have members everywhere. Some of these are abroad and we are pleased to support Living History events in the EU.

With membership now at over 600 we are still growing and the projects being undertaken promise to yet again change the face of the hobby....... New routes and new ways of funding as well as many other exciting and innovative ideas soon to come to fruition.

Consider joining AFRA - the most switched on, knowledgeable and flexible solution to modern Living History needs today.

Halfway through the year and weeks away from one of the major events on the calendar -Beltring - AFRA would like to thank its ever expanding membership for the support and the enthusiasm with which you move us forward every day.

To the members we would like to say - you are doing us proud and constantly providing fresh challenges which the Association meets. We enjoy supporting your efforts, we are proud to support you at events, we are satisfied when we support you with HMRC and RIF retailers, we are happy when our advice is helpful.

We think it safe to say we are the most trouble free solution to your re-enactment/living history needs today - Long may it continue..... (at least we got past the 30 week stage - in 2008!)

Can we bring to your attention that membership applications for the period from today (15 July 2010 until 27 July 2010 will be on hold due to our attendance at War and Peace.

We are aware of a number of applications and we have tried to process as many as possible to facilitate people's needs.

We thank you for your patience in the matter - Replacement cards, Lost cards and all other matters will also be on hold until our return.

We are at War and Peace and will be pleased to speak to members and prospective members on matters AFRA but outside of show hours due to the workload we have in servicing the re-enactment displays.

We look forwards to meeting as many of you as possible and are gratified to see in excess of 120 members have completed Risk Assessments to attend.

Have a good, safe and memorable show.

AFRA Exec.

For some time now members have been experiencing problems using the website. This has been due to our hosting provider being absolutely PANTS! No excuses - no deflecting the problem - Karl has been incessantly raising tickets with them and to non avail.
They moved servers, forgot to back things up, didn't load balance the servers correctly blah blah blah - Suffice to say it has affected our levels of service and we have battled through but it's got increasingly worse!

So now, we have not been able to see people joining etc. and it's become untenable. At the weekend we sourced another provider, arranged new hosting and informed our old provider that we would be cancelling and required a refund for the outstanding period.

The fools have simply taken down the site before we could transfer the domain name which has left us blind for a couple of days now!!!!!! Karl being clever has backed up the database etc. an the website so we can load it on to the new server.

We do apologise for the inconvenience, frustration and upset this has caused - That being said - we have been successful with lots and lots of members and have enabled many people to enjoy their hobby with a lot more freedom than ever before - So our triumphs far outnumber our downers.....

AFRA will be back up and operational very soon - This would have been a pre-announcement via the members email system rather than a forum post but.................. the dorks failed epically again - And took us offline before we had asked them to. It certainly wasn't Hosting 4 Life was it?

We will inform all immediately the new set up is sorted. (should be Wed/Thurs)

Regards to all.

As long as it's grammatically correct, punctuated and spelled correctly.

Have you transposed the update to a less regulated and therefore less worthy forum?

It's that time of year again.
You can renew your AFRA membership online. You can also pay for it using PayPal.

Due to the huge numbers and the influx of renewals there will be some slight delays which are unavoidable. Please be patient. We will endeavour to have all new joiners and renewals complete by the date of the AGM which is 30 Jan 2011.

Thank you for your continued and growing support. 2011 is to be a year of growth and advancement. We have come so far already in such a short time - it is thanks to the membership that we have achieved so much. 2011 is the time when the membership get to play a more active part in what we do. Stand by for more info.

Just a quick pointer to something that threw me:
When you click on 'Renew' you must complete all the boxes and tick boxes that are in red else you will be nagged until you do, else you won't be able to tick the green tick to submit. Fair enough.
If you want to pay by cheque the details will be on the confirmation email you get sent - if you haven't had the email check your PC or ISP spam boxes.

However, it isn't clear what to do if you want to pay by Paypal. All you need to do is choose 'Personal details' in the menu and you will then see the 'Pay Membership' button which takes you to Paypal.
