as far as I do recall, her reenactment group was actively involved

... hmmm .... I have the movie on DVD. I have some friends who worked in the production of the movie. Bringing the 88 flak and other weapons to italy from switzerland. If you know how complicated and stressful this was and how much of the filmed scenes where used in the end ..... it makes you sick!!!

Saw this a while back , thought it sucked . It tries to be pvt.Ryan , glory and a few other films , sadly all of spike lee's films have the oh woe is me I am black and mistreated look how badly all of you whites have treated us .

I was prepared for a typical spike lee film but i was pleasantly surprised. As far as historical accuracy is concerned. i do believe the particular incident in the movie is fantasy but its background story
,the massacre of civilians at the hands of the 16th SS at Sta Anna is well known and documented. As far as uniform and equipment accuracy is concerned, it measures up as quite decent in my book. The rfss men wore feldgrau M42's and 43's with the RFSS cuff title. not a sahariana or smock in sight. majority of the germans in the film were wehrmacht heer.
