how to get my UKW E.E. in the air,

Post by svdwal »

Hi All,

For years now i've got A UKW E.E. that i bought in a working condition.
It's now standing for some yars in my display but i want it to work again.
Can anyone tell me how to get it working on a easy and accessable way?

Unfortunatly i don't have any cables with it but i'm willing to buy or reproduce the neccesary equipment.

Basically i'm looking for some kind of battery box that i can attach to the unit to lett it function.

UKWEe uses a standard 5 pin connecting cable. It's not possible to run this set directly from a battery - you can either rig a modern DC power supply or you'll need to find an operating EUa3 dynamotor. The input for the dynamotor was 26 watts at 2.3 volts giving an output of 12 volts at 2.75 amps. I have the pin configurations for the plugs somewhere - I'll dig them out.

Best thing to do would be to look on eBay for a cheap variable output power supply - make sure the set is correctly earthed. Don't forget you can get voltages up to 600V inside the equipment when it operates, and there could also be RF voltages around the antenna couplings.

Thanks Dave,

You say standard 5 pin cable, have you've got any ideay where I can buy these?
I will take a look on ebay for a variable output power supply, I suspects that he should give at least 12 volt at 2.75 amps?

If you could help me with a configuration scheme or sheet ill be thanksfull.

You can adapt a caravan/trailer connector, but it's temperamental! Original plugs fetch over £100 now. The other way to do it is to remove the 5 pin connector and wire the PSU directly in.

Ok,

In that case i will build something look-a-like myself.
I want it to look as good as possible but a hunderd quit for a origional connecter is a bit expensive, i rather spend it on some more equipment for the radio/telephone collection.

Thanks again,

At last i found something.
Someone i know in the dutch re-enactment scene build a powersupply for his UKW EE.
He was planning to sell it, so i bought it from him.
Still have to wait for next weekend to collect it.
