Torn Eb didn't have an antenna mount, it used a trailing wire type antenna

Boxes are easy to make - get aluminium sheet cut to the right side, and 25mm L section cut to the right lengths with 45 degree joints on the rear sections. Use chemical weld to 'glue' it all together. The lid is another sheet with 25mm L section 'glued' on in the same way. Handle can be obtained from B&Q (or similar). The latches can be found (though I may have a source who can supply in bulk).

I would like to get a repro one, any advice,

I have no clue on this area, but always had the interest,

So can you give me a little run down on what there is to buy for reenactment proposes and what would look right in
a Funker or Nachtricten Impression.

Thanks an looking forward to a reply...

The resin fascias are available from eBay and a guy in the US. I'll see if I have his details still.

If you want a funker as part of an Infantry Company, then a torn Eb would suit nicely. You'd need (from memory):
Radio
Accessories box
Straps
Lumbar support
2B38 wet cell
90V anode dry cell
Carry straps
Lumbar pad
Antenna cable
Power cable
Earth cable
Earthing spike and carrying sheath (not always used)
Spare valves
2 sets Dfh 'a' headphones
Paperwork would simply be a merkblatt style pad and a few pencils.

A nachrichten set up could be a little more complex as you into signals territory rather than a qualified radio operator.

Reguarding the Eb it is only a receiver it does not transmit. They used a transmit only unit with it. Also it is not a backpack unit like the Torn.Fu.d2 unit

The transmitter depended on the unit type/assignment. In the combination I posted above, that was vehicle mounted as the weight of that little set up is nigh on 425lbs.

In the field, for infantry, a transceiver would have been more common, such as Torn Fu d2, the earlier Feld fu type and the later Torn fu type. All these sets could be used on the move, whereas separate receiver/transmitter would have to be set up in a static location. They also (mostly) had the capacity to use a vertical rod antenna rather than trailing wire, which gave them better reception.

Try an avoid using the Kl. Fu Spr. d ('dorette') as they were very late war issue and there are very few photos supporting their use by bog standard line infantry units (SS and Heer).

Do you mean the Torn fu b1 set (transceiver and accessory box) or the Feldfu b1 (smaller backpack set, no accessory box)? The Torn fu b1 and Feld fu b1 were used primarily by artillery forward observers and were specifically excluded from infantry issue.

I may be selling an original Torn fu c if you're interested.
