Looking for someone with a certain book. Camouflage Uniforms of the German Wehrmacht by Werner Palinckx. Can anyone who has this tell me if the Splinter smock did come with a hood like the pic below or if this is a fantasy piece.
Anyone have a certain book.

Re: Anyone have a certain book.
Got the book mate.
According to the book there were indeed smocks with hoods.
Splinter with fluffy edges (there description)
Marsh 43 and 44
There is an example of the one you show however the book states
"A rare smock. It is not quite clear whether this was field made or standard issue. It looks like a standard smock in WH splinter pattern, but it has exactly the same design as the Marsh smocks with hood: a hood, vertical openings to reach the breast pockets of the uniform underneath ad ventilation openings at the arm pits. It has a drawstring at the collar, a waist draw string and camo straps with buttons to close the cuffs. The cloth is smooth and not HBT (drillich), the inside is left uprinted. it is definatley not Swiss cloth or early Polish cammo. Another pareticular feature is that it has no reinforced edges at the bottom. It was found in a market near Krakov, Poland in the early 1990,s"
Have to say the one you show just dont look right in comparison to the one in the book, up to you to decide mate.

May the fleas of a thousand camels infest the crotch of the person who screws up your day and may their arms be too short to scratch.

Sure there is also an example of this in Cyrus Lees "Soldat" series of books.

Any pics of either of those chaps. Im going to give the smock above a miss now and Im thinking a field made one would look better.
