Two non axis badges to identify

As a little courtesy, I have two strange badges I bought (for a lot of euros) to identify.

Probably they are english so your are likely all from the right country ...

Nope not British badges, possibly French, i will check my reference books when i get back from work (if someone dont beat me to it)

They look like traditional badges to me, also the second one has the "W" cypher
and crown of Wilhelm of Germany, poss WW1 or earlier, and because of the Gilted-
gold finish maybe Naval badges?, iam just guessing here but this is based on what
ive seen on other basic styles of badges???

They were found on Garda Lake, Northern italy, a traditional holiday resort for Germans and Austrians. Some had taken this place as their residence.

There was a batch with around ten of them, all made like these (on the back there are two soldered prongs with an hole).

As they costed 12 euros each i could buy just two, maybe I won't have to regret the buy after all.

As well as being the patron saint of England, George is important to Genoa in Italy and Freiburg in Germany. Pehaps more places too?

I think you overpayed!

They are Dutch barret badges. The one on the bottom is artilley.
They are cheap to get, between 1-3 euro each, not more.

Did you buy them in Riva Del Garda? Ah, it's a bit of a tourist trap so they would be expensive there.

Of course, historically Lake Garda is not only a tourist destination not only for Germans and Austrians but was also very popular with deposed Italian dictators at one time....

Hmmm.......... so the "W" and crown cypher is William of Orange ie: "Dutch".
