Fj scarf
Hi there,
question why do some of the fj reenactors that I have seen at shows and in pictures wear a blue scarf with white dots ?
I thought that if they had jumped they would be wearing a white silk scarf made from their parachute ? , like the Americans with theirs.
Next where do you buy these blue scarf ?
As I think I have only come across one site selling them and they were white silk I think.
Any info help would be great.
Thanks

Re: Fj scarf
wear any scarf you want, be it red, blue, white , yellow of any period design.
Ebay is a good bet , search for 'polka dot scarfs'

Re: Fj scarf
Wasn't the blue scarf with white polka dots to do with the 7th Flieger Division? I'll have to look through my books to confrm this.

Re: Fj scarf
all depends really, i have worn mine a couple of times, but i mostly wear a plain grey scarf
Re: Fj scarf
I agree i think this has become the "norm" with some reenactors even though perhapsMoller wrote:To be honest..you see a lot of those white polka dots scarves, prob too many...
in the front line three or four were probably worn by a section of Paras in a "stick".
I for one have manage to get a few silk scarves from flea bay but are in other colours,
i have one blue one but it has small red/green and cream squares on it which i bought
purposely so it looks different from the standard white and blue "polka dot type".

Re: Fj scarf
In all honesty I am a bit tired seeing every 2nd Fj reenactor wearing the blue polka-dot scarf
(not to mention wearing the fliegerbluse collar outside the smock collar and so destroying any camouflage effect by sporting on plain view the bright yellow tabs , but that's another story)
If memory serves the blue scarf was the unofficial trade mark of a single company or Battalion of a specific regiment, I have to reread the books to see which one.
Much better to wear a civilian one.

Or wear an standard issue head toque. That's what I do.
