Equipment issue

My impression is a Sturmmann connected to the Zug stab. Duties like Melder (orderly), all-round soldier and helping out around camp and the stab. What weapon would you say I should use? Of course I could use a k98 as it was the main weapon for enlisted men, but thinking of the position, would it be totally wrong if I used an Mp40?

Herr Peiper it would be a Snr NCO but again this would not be that common as the scale of Issue if pistols was not that high
