Steigrau Puttees original 1940 for sale 4GBP

Post by MountainWiess »

I just bought 4 sets of these original stone grey Puttees from the UK at 4 pounds each.
here is the link if you are interested:

Anyone know if they're from Germany or what country?

I just need some buckles, anyone know where to get them?

Did you know mate these are Aussie made Puttees (D^D department of defence) and will be khaki brown in colour, the photos are a bit poor on the site.

Also British puttees never had buckles but were tied off back on themselves.

Ugg, I hope they're grey, I just ordered 'em!

From what I've seen on this forum I figured they'd had buckles

I meant these buckles:

Servus Bergkameraden,

Nice looking buckle that you posted MountainWiess...happens to be from an original pair of Wickelgamaschen in my collection. :D

Here's the rest of it...Wickelgamaschen are made from a specially woven wool called 'Elastique."

Servus Bergkameraden,

From a earlier thread, there seems to be a Czech maker who is reproducing correct Wickelgamaschen with Buckles:
